The Ultimate Game Day Guide for Visitors
A game at Lambeau Field is a bucket-list experience, and a little planning makes it a great one. Here's everything first-time visitors ask us before a Sunday home game.
Getting there
From our Finger Road homes, Lambeau is about a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk. On game days we genuinely recommend walking if the weather cooperates โ you'll skip the parking crawl and, more importantly, the postgame gridlock that can trap cars for an hour.
If you do drive, there's paid lot parking near the stadium and locals sell driveway spots in the neighborhoods. Cash is king. Have a meeting spot planned in case your group splits up; cell service gets spotty with 78,000 people on one network.
Tailgating 101
Tailgating is the heart of game day here. If you're tailgating in the lots:
- Arrive at least three hours before kickoff for a good spot.
- Bring layers โ a sunny morning can turn into a cold afternoon fast.
- Brats, not hot dogs. This is Wisconsin.
- It's friendly. Packers fans will share a beer and a brat with rival fans. Lean into it.
No tailgate setup? No problem. The bars around the stadium (we rounded up our favorites) deliver the same energy with less gear.
What to wear
Dress for the actual weather, not the forecast you hoped for. September can be 75 and sunny; December can be single digits. The famous "frozen tundra" games are real. Layers, a warm hat, and waterproof boots in late season. And green and gold, obviously โ you'll feel left out otherwise.
Inside the stadium
- Lambeau is mostly bench seating in the bowl. A stadium seat cushion is a worthwhile rental or buy.
- The concourse concessions are classic stadium fare; the lines are shortest right at kickoff and during halftime's first few minutes.
- Don't leave early to beat traffic. The Lambeau Leap, the late-game atmosphere โ that's what you came for.
After the game
This is where staying close pays off. Instead of sitting in your car, walk back, regroup at the house, and head out for dinner once the rush dies down. A fish fry or a downtown dinner around 7pm hits perfectly after a 1pm game.
Plan your stay
Home game weekends book up early โ often months out โ and most carry a two-night minimum. Check the Packers schedule, pick your game, and lock in a place to stay before the dates are gone. Go Pack Go.
